Three legs of the tripod, always find a point where the three legs touch the ground. If one leg is shorter than the other two are built on mud that direction, but still the three legs on the floor at all times.

With a four-legged stool, is all the shorter leg is shorter than the other three are on the ground, which influence the President in that direction and back allows.
